On Wednesday, the 27th of May, the “Raoul Wallenberg Foundation” had its annual celebration in the “Raoul Wallenberg Vocational and Secondary Grammar School for Humane Studies”, in presence of the Swedish Ambassador to Hungary, Ms. Cecilia Björner and the Principal of the Wallenberg School, Dr. Kovácsné Dr. Papp Mária.
On this occasion a Swedish Choir from Gothenburg, conducted by Augutis Nylén, consisting of 15-16 years old students, was invited to perform with pop and classical numbers, Swedish and Hungarian folksongs, sung in English, Swedish and Hungarian.
The “Swedish” performance was followed by the “Jubilate choir” of Wallenberg Secondary School, conducted by Berke Katalin. In a common performance by the “Jubilate choir” and the “Drama Society”, we could also enjoy ABBA´s “Thank you for the Music” with Rózsás Magdolna as soloist.
After the nice music programs, Mr. Rikard Jonsson (ABB), President of the Foundation, was asked to announce the Board of Trustees decision to appoint three students for a “scholarship” in form of a study trip to Sweden, during one week, as a result of a competition . A “Tender Invitation” had been presented to students with “…good educational results, impeccable behaviour, having no unjustified absence….”.
The aim of the competition was to write an essay, in English, revealing their all-round, individual ideas in an assigned topic.
From the seven competitive and “short-listed” essays and after a difficult judgement, we are happy to congratulate the following students to the “scholarship”:
Noémi Mézner, Noémi Pataky and Beatrix Kirsch.
