The Swedish Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1995 as the successor of the Swedish Management Forum. The Chamber is an interactive forum for the Swedish and Hungarian business and trade relationships and for regular base meetings.
The foundation was urged some of the already established Hungarian subsidiaries of the Swedish parent companies and the initiative was supported by the Swedish Trade Council and the Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken as well.
Since there had been more and more Swedish companies established in Hungary, this created a need of an official organization to come into existence, which aim was to represent and support the interest of the Swedish business life in Hungary.
The founders were: ABB, ASTRA, ATLAS COPCO, ELECTROLUX CSOPORT, ERICSSON, MÖLNLYCKE, PHARMACIA, SAAB, SCALA ECE, SECAB, SEMIC INTERPRINT, SKANDINAVISKA ENSKILDA BANKEN, SKF, SVÉD MATCH, SVÉD KERESKEDELMI TANÁCS, TETRA LAVAL CSOPORT, and VOLVO.
All the famous brands of the Swedish producers are marketed in Hungary. The 56 members have app. 12 000 employees and during the last 12-14 years 1 BEUR has been invested by them, while the revenues of them have reached 2 BEUR. This shows very well how good the Swedish and Hungarian relationships are.
The Swedish Chamber of Commerce has elected Mr. Jánost Takács, the managing director of Electrolux Lehel Ltd. Mr. Takács replaces Gussi Emri, who took up the position as Managing Director Papyrus Sweden.
The appointed new vice-presidents are: dr. Emese Majorosi, PR manager of AstraZeneca and Mr. Rikard Jonsson, chief financial officer of ABB.
